In this talk, I discuss the NHS-England commissioned ADHD Taskforce report and its recommendations for the changes needed, many of which would be applicable in other countries too, covering current challenges, ways forward, and addressing questions raised about the science behind ADHD.

About Prof Anita Thapar CBE
Anita is a clinical academic child and adolescent psychiatrist whose research focuses on ADHD and mental health in young people, and she is lead editor of the authoritative international textbook Rutter's Textbook of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She was awarded a CBE for services to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 2017, alongside honours including the Royal College of Psychiatrists' President's Medal, the Ruane Prize, the International Society for Psychiatric Genetics Lifetime Achievement Award, and the World ADHD Federation medal for her contributions to clinical work, teaching and research on ADHD. She has served as co-chair of the Welsh Government Ministerial Advisory Group for neurodivergence, on the Welsh Government Adult ADHD taskforce, as Chair of the NHS-England independent ADHD Taskforce, and as a member of the Dept for Education Task and Finish Group for Neurodivergence. Anita receives royalties from Wiley for the Rutter Textbook but otherwise has no financial disclosures.
