ADHD Strategies
So instead of lying around in bed, I'll I'll I'll get up, and I'll make the most of the day. So I'll get up. I'll go and have a coffee. I'll make a coffee. And I don't just make an instant coffee. I'll make a proper ground coffee, filter it. I love the process of doing that. And then go and sit in our garden room, which overlooks our garden, which has got nice views of trees and shrubs and what have you. And I'll just sit there, take it all in, kind of just think about the day. Exercising and being present has really helped. Really, really helped. And also learning and understanding and appreciating the challenges that it brings, that if I need to take myself away from the screen to get five minutes, ten minutes.
Then I can do that. Don't feel guilty of being, like, constantly in front of the no, sorry. Yeah. Don't feel guilty of taking yourself away and feel that you've got to constantly be in front of your laptop working. There is an element, obviously. You know, there's deliverables. I get paid to to do my job, so I need to ensure that I do my job. But the flexibility has been there to do it, whether it's nine till five, whether it's eight till four, whether it's nine till six, etcetera. So for me, the strategies that have really helped me are meditation, routine, exercise. They're probably the three ones, routine, meditation, exercise, the consistency that comes with that, and the persistency as well.
One thing that really, really helps my ADHD is to print material to have it to have have hard copies of it so I can, like, look at it, touch it, underline it if I can. You know, that whole experience really improves my learning experience. So, yeah, definitely have that hard copy that I can, like, go back to. I I I've got I've got three or four notebooks that I just scribble on, and that definitely really helps me because it makes it real. When you have it in your mind and it it's all jumbled up, it's like it's almost like this dream. You live in in this dreamy state. And if you put it down, if you talk to somebody about it, you make it real. So it's it's actually it gives you.
That extra bit. It might actually come true, that idea that you think that, oh, no. This this is too outlandish. This is too difficult. If you put it down, if you write it down, if you talk to somebody, your chances of actually accomplishing it will become much bigger.
